Tony R. Dawson - Principle Associate

Tony Dawson's quarter-century career encompasses both hotel and resort management and the development and management of numerous upscale, mixed-use resorts, exclusive private golf and country clubs and residential communities: among them The Boulders in Carefree, Arizona; Carmel Valley Ranch on California’s Monterey Peninsula; Cordillera in Vail, Colorado; and The Woodlands in Texas. Tony has held senior positions at Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts in Texas and served as Vice President of Operations for six Jack Tar Village Caribbean Resorts. He served as Chief Operating Officer of the Cordillera group, responsible for five projects in Colorado and Northern California, including the Cordillera community near Vail. Prior to joining Cordillera, Tony was Vice President of Hospitality for The Woodlands Operating Company, with management responsibilities for three Texas resort and conference centers. At The Woodlands he also initiated development of a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course and the Carlton Woods Country Club, which hosted the 1999 Shell Houston Open.

In 2002, Tony founded CAREFREE HOSPITALITY (www.carefreehospitality.com) to develop and manage high-end resorts, private golf clubs and exclusive residential communities. Tony and his CAREFREE team led the planning and development of high end clubs and communities including Escondido in Marble Falls, Texas; The Club at Pronghorn in Bend, Oregon; Stonebrae in Haywood, California; The Cliffs Communities in Traveler's Rest, South Carolina; Ravenna Country Club in Denver, Colorado; Dallas National Golf Club in Dallas, Texas; Marshall Ranch at Lake Travis in the Austin, Texas area and managed Cypresswood Golf Club in Houston, Texas. CAREFREE and Tony developed a relationship with IMI Resort Holdings and jointly worked to develop a prototype for the Nicklaus Lodge...a high-end boutique lodge offering whole and fractional ownership options, with plans for ten properties worldwide.

Tony returned to Carmel, California in 2009 and served as the General and Manager and Vice President of The Santa Lucia Preserve and Club, an exclusive 20,000-acre private preserve in Carmel, California's coastal foothills offering 300 estates, a Tom Fazio golf course, clubhouse, member and guest overnight accommodations, health spa, stables and 100 miles of trails.

Recently, Tony has returned to Austin, Texas and provides consulting through CAREFREE HOSPITALITY on exclusive club and hospitality related communities, working closely with LIONHEART on various select projects.
